January 28, 2018 - One in Custody After Landlord/Tenant Dispute

ONE IN CUSTODY AFTER LANDLORD/TENANT DISPUTE
Lake Geneva Police Chief Michael S. Rasmussen reports: On Thursday, January 26th, 2018 at approximately 11:53pm, officers responded to a residence in the 700 Block of North Street for a reported landlord/tenant dispute involving a shot fired.
Upon arrival, officers met with the landlord, a 77 year old male. The landlord stated he went to check on his 2nd floor tenant as he thought he smelled something burning. During this contact, the tenant, 49 year old Kevin Aumuller and the77 y/o male were involved in a physical confrontation resulting in the landlord being thrown down a flight of stairs.
The landlord fled to his apartment and was pursued by Aumuller. The 77 y/o victim obtained a handgun and fired one shot in the direction of Aumuller who was not struck and ran back to his apartment. Upon arrival, Aumuller was taken into custody without incident. Aumuller was booked into the Walworth County Jail.
Charges for battery, criminal trespass to a dwelling, disorderly conduct and obstructing an officer were referred Walworth County District Attorney’s Office on Aumuller.
